Microplastics ingestions by wild and aquaculture marine bivalves: A systematic review on field investigation study

چکیده

Plastics degradation has resulted in a major threat to marine organisms, including bivalves. Thirty-three peer-reviewed papers have been reviewed understand the geographical spread of microplastics ingestion by bivalves, characteristics ingested, and limitation analysis globallly. Only studies on investigation bivalves from wild aquaculture area were selected. Marine are reported accumulate all environment compartments. High proximity with intensive human activities is suggested increase uptake Microfibers fragments common types ingested around world, various sizes (0.45µm – <45mm) number particles per individual (20 ~175 particles/individual). However, there uncertainty when comparing findings one study another due absence international standard protocol data base. Therefore, this should be addressed prior monitoring accumulation

The physical impacts of microplastics on marine organisms: a review.

Plastic debris at the micro-, and potentially also the nano-scale, are widespread in the environment. Microplastics have accumulated in oceans and sediments worldwide in recent years, with maximum concentrations reaching 100 000 particles m(3). Due to their small size, microplastics may be ingested by low trophic fauna, with uncertain consequences for the health of the organism. This review foc...

Microplastics in bivalves cultured for human consumption.

Microplastics are present throughout the marine environment and ingestion of these plastic particles (<1 mm) has been demonstrated in a laboratory setting for a wide array of marine organisms. Here, we investigate the presence of microplastics in two species of commercially grown bivalves: Mytilus edulis and Crassostrea gigas. Microplastics were recovered from the soft tissues of both species. ...

Microplastics as contaminants in the marine environment: a review.

Since the mass production of plastics began in the 1940s, microplastic contamination of the marine environment has been a growing problem. Here, a review of the literature has been conducted with the following objectives: (1) to summarise the properties, nomenclature and sources of microplastics; (2) to discuss the routes by which microplastics enter the marine environment; (3) to evaluate the ...
